The paradise for bon viveurs
Piedmont is not only popular with many wine-lovers and gourmets (it’s the home of the white truffle), who treat themselves in one of the over 50 Michelin-listed restaurants. Piedmont also has a wealth of unique attractions and experiences to offer visitors with an interest in culture or nature. The gentle hilly landscape with its vineyards growing famous wines such as Barolo or Barbaresco makes this a tempting region for long walks or cycle rides. Here and there are large wine-growing estates and picturesque villages with cobbled streets, arcades, twisty alleyways, steep steps, churches, towers and palaces – time seems to have stood still here. There are a host of larger towns offering an endless array of cultural, historic and architectural treasures – and also, of course, plenty of opportunities for shopping and entertainment. Piedmont – a gastronome’s paradise amid fantastic scenery, as unspoilt and varied as any region in Italy.
