| The roots of the "Castello di Villa" go back to the end of the end of 17th century, as Count Natta, present ruler of Asti, let build this gorgeous edifice in the Baroque style on the hill over Isola d'Asti. The precious frescos featuring Castello served as residence to the Count's governor who performed jurisdiction and administration in the Isola area.
The Castello was acquired by the Iraldi clan, a wealthy family from Mombercelli. The most famous family member was Ottaviano, advocate, knight of San Maurizio and Lazzaro, mayor of Isola from 1862 till 1868. After various incidents, around the year 1900, the Castello went over to the Ivaldi clan, a honourable family from Costigliole, related to the Iraldis. The residence was henceforth known as "Palazzo Iraldi-Ivaldi". In 1998 Swiss Hoteliers Johnny and Veronica Laager purchased the neglected building from the descendants of the last offspring of the Ivaldi dynasty, Signora Gabriella Raverditi-Raballo.
The estate was in a disastrous condition, but due to two years of careful renovation, the old castle finally regained its former splendour and became a magnificent residence charmingly decorated that looks for its equals.
The luxurious hotel was inaugurated on May 27, 2000. Following the domestic nickname for the historical edifice, which was "castel del mago", the new ownership named it Castello di Villa.
